Teo Puay Chuan, Desmond

Mr. Desmond Teo began his photography journey in 1988 after his brother gave him his first manual SLR camera. He took on his first basic photography course in 1993 and proceed on to monochrome, colour and studio photography courses conducted by SAFRA Photographic Club. During this period, he won the Best Student Award. Through his course of study at the photographic club, he learnt a lot from the senior photographers and found his passion for Black & White Photography.

In 1996, Mr Teo joined the SAFRA Photographic Club committee and was in the Executive Committee from 2001/2003, then Secretary in 2003/ 2004 and later served as the Chairman from 2005 to 2007. Presently, he is the Vice-Chairman. Mr Teo was the Advisor for “SAFRA Photographer of the Year” competition in 2000, 2002 and 2004. From 2005 till present, he is serving as Advisor for Ngee Ann Photographic Exhibition. Mr Teo is also a member of the Society of Worldwide Ethnic Chinese Photographer.

Mr Teo also shares his passion for photography and imparts his knowledge to the next generation. In 1998, he was invited to conduct the monochrome course for the SAFRA Photographic Club and for the decade, he has taught in the Civil Defence Force, various schools, community clubs and private organizations.
