NAPE Invited Artist – Charlie Lim Boon Khoon

CharlieLim is a multi-talented artist with a visionary approach to photography and fine arts. Professionally trained in Advertising Arts and Commercial Photography at Baharuddin Vocational Institute (now Temasek Polytechnic), he has spent years refining his craft and pioneering new artistic expressions.

Charlie Lim is no stranger to international accolades and awards in photography. He has a stunning collection that stands supremely unchallenged in a genre created for and by him: PaintoGraphy. Many around the world have tried to copy what he had invented but none came close. His “PaintoGraphy” is an unique art form that beautifully combines the dramatic play of light and shadow found in Rembrandt’s paintings and the truthful portrayal of the subject that only a camera lens could faithfully capture.

Charlie’s PaintoGraphy technique fuses Rembrandt oil-painting, photography, and torchlight strokes – all without filters, software, gimmicks, or AI. A selection of his works was featured in the International Master Photography Volume II, a prestigious by-invitation-only art photography publication that features the works of the 100 best photographers from all over the world.

With over 45 years of experience, Charlie has won and is still winning awards and recognition for his creative works. His ultimate goal is not about winning another award though he will. His dream is to use his art to elevate Singapore’s standing in the competitive World of photography, art, and design. At the heart of this prolific and celebrated photographer is the desire to use his talents to bring honor and glory to Singapore.
