Rules and Regulations of Ngee Ann National Students’ Calligraphy Competition 2024

1. Requirements of Competition:

Participants are expected to complete their work on the rice papers provided by the Ngee Ann Cultural Centre (NACC) within the following timeframe and submit ONE final artwork. Participants may decide their preferred script style.

2. Important Notes:

  1. Participants are required to register at registration counter 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the competition. They may enter the competition hall upon completion of registration.
  2. Only participants are allowed in the hall; non-participants are advised to wait outside the hall.
  3. Participants can refer to their reference materials, such as books and mobile apps, before the commencement of the competition. All reference materials are prohibited after the commencement of the competition.
  4. No discussions are allowed during the competition.
  5. Participants are required to complete their work based on the Contest Script provided by NACC. Works with typo errors will be disqualified.
  6. Please leave 3 inches space allowance each on the top and the bottom of the paper and 2 inches space allowance each on the left and the right of the paper for flattening purposes.
  7. Participants are advised to end their writing with their school name, name and the Chinese character “書” followed by their seal stamp (if any) at the left bottom corner of their work.
  8. Participants must paste the entry number post-it note (provided by NACC) at the top right corner on the reverse page when submitting their work.
  9. To avoid disturbing other participants, participants are required to leave the hall after submission of their work.
  10. Participants who failed to comply with the Rules and Regulations will deem to be disqualified and will be asked to leave the competition hall immediately.

3. Stationary:

NACC will provide ink, competition script and 2 sheets of unfolded rice papers to each participant. Participants should bring their own stationary, including calligraphy brush, ink plate, practice paper etc.

4. Announcement of Results:

5. All Participating Artworks:

All participating artworks are the property of the NACC. NACC owns the right to reproduce or edit the artworks in any form for publicity or other necessary purposes.

6. The Organiser and the Judging Panel reserve the right:

  1. to revoke the award should the individual winner fails to collect the prizes without any valid reason;
  2. not to present any awards, should the entries failed to meet the expectation of the Judging Panel;
  3. to call off the event should the number of participants does not meet the expection of the Organiser;
  4. to amend these rules and regulations without prior notice;
  5. to decide the winning entries, and all decisions made by the Judging Panel will be final.
